On January 29, 2025, the event presenting the research results of the FirePuma project, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, took place. During this event, the FCT-UNL community had the opportunity to see a project in the field of Control with several connections to other areas. The project developed:
- A protocol for communication in a sensor network using LoRa transmitters with a new method for time-division of communication slots.
- Interaction between sensors and drones through the Robot Operating System (ROS).
- New estimators that allow calculating areas to be visited for wildfire prevention.
- An algorithm that optimizes surveillance routes and autonomously controls the drones.
