The MIEEC master's dissertation of student Miguel Cardinha, supervised by Professors Rui Amaral Lopes and Nuno Amaro, won second place in the national "Open Data Academy Challenge", organized by E-REDES.
The dissertation titled "Analysis of the Impact Introduced by Electric Vehicle Charging on Lisbon's Power Distribution Network," used data from multiple sources, including the E-REDES Open Data platform, and applied genetic algorithms to model and implement an innovative methodology. This approach not only enables an understanding of electric vehicle consumption distribution by postcode but also assesses its impact on each substation in the network.
As a result of this research, a manuscript has also been prepared and is currently under review for publication in an international scientific journal.
The award ceremony took place on March 31 at EDP's headquarters and featured participants from various universities across the country.
